ジェシーとの出会いは2019年春に彼が所属するSixTONESとBOURGEOIS 5th issueの撮影をした時。当時はメジャーデビューが発表され る前のジャニーズJr.ではあったが、ジェシーを含め彼らには日本の音楽業界に新たな旋風を起こす勢いを感じていた。その半年後、2019 年8月8日にジャニーズJr.による東京ドームでの単独コンサートで、彼らが2020年1月22日にCDデビューすることが発表された。時代は平成から令和に変わり、新時代の幕開け。これからワールドワイドに活躍を期待しているグループのセンターに立つのが日本とアメリカ の血を持つジェシーである。今後、日本という枠を超えて、世界各国で活躍するアーティストになる彼にとってジャニーズJr.として最後 の作品となる。
I met Jesse for the first time in the spring of 2019 when we had a photo shooting with his group SixTONES for BOURGEOIS 5th issue. At that time SixTONES were members of Johnny's Jr. and they hadn't made their major debut yet, but I was sure that Jesse and the members of SixTONES will cause a stir in the Japanese music industry. After 6 months later, they announced their CD debut on 8th August in 2019 at Johnny's Jr.'s live concert in Tokyo Dome. The period has changed from Heisei to the Reiwa age in Japan, and for the start of the new era I'm looking forward to seeing SixTONES become worldwide artists. Jesse, who is of mixed Japanese and American heritage, is at the centre of the group. I'm happy to have interviewed him as a Johnny's Jr. member last time before becoming well known artist all over the world.

Your wishes finally came true over a year later
I came to know LEE HI by questionnaire to our readers for the next featured artists in the winter of 2018. LEE HI was voted No.1 by most of her overseas fans. That’s why I listened to her signature song BREATHE to knoe more about herself and I was moved by the song then. After this, I contacted her agency YG ENTERTAINMENT immediately and we had some meetings and discussions over the course of a year. Finally I decided to go to South Korea to meet her in October, 2019. Also, LEE HI made a COME BACK in 2019 from a three years absence. She has had some difficult times in her life, but she has the power to make those experiences turn into warmth. I hope that she will heal people all over the world through her music. LEE HI is the first foreign cover model of BOURGEOIS.
2018年冬、次に特集を組む次世代アーティストを探すために読書アンケートを実施した。その時、海外から最も多くのリクエストを頂い たのが「LEE HIの特集を組んでほしい」といった声だった。そして、彼女の代表曲である『BREATHE』を聴いた時、彼女の歌声が僕の 心に響いたことが彼女を撮影するきっかけとなった。その後、彼女の所属するYG ENTERTAINMENTに直様に連絡を取り、多くの打ち合わせを重ね、1年が経過した頃に彼女と撮影をするため韓国に行くことを決意した。そして、LEE HI自身も2019年は3年ぶりにCOME BACKした年でもあった。彼女の人生には多くの激しい波も押し寄せるが、その様々な経験を優しさに変える力がある。音楽を通して、 世界中の人々を魅了して、癒してほしい。 BOURGEOISにとっては初の日本国籍以外の外国人カバーとなった。

A MESSAGE FROM TOKYO
BOURGEOIS 5th issue発売後、ロンドンにいた時に頂いた一通のメールが片寄涼太を撮影をするきっかけとなった。日本に帰国後、挨拶に行ったのが彼の所属するLDH。マネージャーさんから「BOURGEOISの世界観で弊社のアーティストを染めてほしい」という要望 を受け、多くのタレントの資料に目を通し、ライブ映像も拝見した中で目に止まったのが片寄涼太だった。彼に惹かれたのは音楽に対する姿勢と歌う時の表現力。力強い声なのに脆さも感じる切ない表情は何か惹かれるものがあった。今年は彼の所属するGENERATIONS from EXILE TRIBEは全国5大ドームツアーを開催。そして、大晦日には紅白歌合戦に初出場。EXILEのファンだった少年は気がつけば、 LDHを引っ張る大きな存在になった。日本最大規模のエンターテイメントを発信するLDHにいる彼には世界中の人たちに日本のLOVE/ DREAM/HAPPINESSを与える音楽を届けてほしい。
After publishing the BOURGEOIS 5th issue, a message I received when I was in London moved me to feature Ryota Katayose. I came back to Japan a few months later and I visited his agent LDH. His manager told me that they wanted their artists featured in BOURGEOIS. I started looking into various artists and watched their live concerts. It was Katayose that caught my eyes. I felt attracted to his attitude towards music and his expression. There was something compelling in his powerful and at the same time fragile expression. His group GENERATIONS from EXILE TRIBE is doing a live concert tour at 5 of the biggest domes in Japan this year. They made their first appearance at an annual new year's Eve music show KOHAKU. A boy who was once a fan of EXILE is now leading LDH and belonging to a big entertainment company LDH, I hope he’ll deliver music which gives people Love, Dream and Happiness and spreads fantastic Japanese entertainment all over the world.
